The University is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to serve as members of its Board of Governors. We are currently seeking three Independent Governors, including someone suitably qualified to take on the role of Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee.

The Board of Governors plays a pivotal role in the governance of the University, providing strategic oversight, ensuring financial sustainability, and upholding the institution’s mission, values, and long-term vision. Governors are expected to act with integrity, independence of thought, and a commitment to the advancement of higher education.

The University is an exciting phase of development with the launch of its Strategy 2035 which will see the university grow and strengthen its position as an anchor institution and place of choice and opportunity for our students and staff.

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to public service and the principles of good governance;
  • Possess strategic insight and sound judgment;
  • Bring a diversity of experience, background, and perspective;
  • Are willing and able to contribute their time, expertise, and leadership to the University’s transformation agenda.

We are interested in receiving applications from individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds, particularly (but not solely) those with expertise in audit and risk, business development, law, and/or Higher Education (preferably academic assurance). Prior experience in governance is advantageous but is not essential. We would welcome applications from individuals who reflect the communities we serve. Please note that due to rules regarding conflict of interest, we cannot proceed with applications from current employees or registered students of the University. 

Term of Appointment: Three years, with the possibility of renewal
Time Commitment:  Approximately 30 hours per annum (Board and Committee meetings and preparation) plus attendance at two Away Days per year

Remuneration: Governor posts at the University are currently not remunerated but expenses are paid.
